Prof. Zahira Khalid

Zahira Khalid is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University and works as a general internist at St Joseph's healthcare where her clinical interests are general internal medicine and critical care. Her passions include medical education and global health.

Over the last 10 years, she has worked intensively in developing the simulation curriculum for postgraduate curriculum. She also developed a model for insitu simulation to improve patient safety and team communication. Other medical education interests include curriculum development, innovational instructional design, online learning and faculty development in medical education.

She has volunteered as a physician and clinical educator in Uganda (Kampala and Gulu) , Peru, Cambodia and Namibia. For the last 4 years, she holds a .volunteer position as a program director of the first internal medicine residency program in Guyana at Georgetown Public Hospital and worked on developing an internal medicine competency framework that integrates community and outreach patient care as well in a resource limited setting.
